  8. OVERVIEW
  9.  
  10. Unitype Global Office adds multilingual document support to Microsoft
  11. Office 97.  Global Office supports most of the world's languages, 
  12. including many which are not supported by Microsoft Office.
  13. Global Office is based on the Unicode 2.0 character set standard.  
  14.  
  15. The primary value of Global Office is in enabling users to create or 
  16. edit documents in their own language, or to enter or display text in 
  17. other languages they may be familiar with, and freely mix any 
  18. language within the same document.

  20. The User Interface language for this release of Global Office is 
  21. English.

  24. INSTALL & UNINSTALL

  26. Unitype Global Office is a 32-bit application and requires Microsoft 
  27. Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.  
  28. Machine requirements are:
  29. - 12MB RAM minimum.  16MB or more RAM is recommended, especially if 
  30.   support for CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) is installed.
  31. - 4MB to 130MB available hard disk space.  The exact amount depends 
  32.   on the number and type of languages installed.

  34. To install Unitype Global Office, launch setup.exe and follow the 
  35. configuration options in the installation program.

  37. To remove Global Writer from your system, go to the Windows Control 
  38. Panel, "Add / Remove Programs" and choose Unitype Global Office.

  43. Global Writer's primary character set is the Unicode 2.0 character 
  44. encoding standard.  Unicode is a fixed-width 16-bit character set 
  45. that covers most of the world's commonly used writing systems.

  50. Global Office is not compatible with version 1.x products from Gamma 
  51. Productions due to changes in the language support system, with the 
  52. exception that both company's products are compatible at the Unicode

  57. - ISSUES AND LIMITATIONS
  58.  
  59. HP LaserJet printer drivers and CJK languages
  60. There is a known incompatibility between Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 
  61. printer drivers and CJK on Microsoft Windows 95.  The conflict causes 
  62. Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) language characters to print 
  63. incorrectly or not at all.  This problem can be solved by choosing the 
  64. Print TrueType as graphics option under File/Print/Properties/Fonts 
  65. before printing.  If the above option is not available with your 
  66. current printer driver, please install the "HP LaserJet" driver (found 
  67. on the Microsoft Windows 95 distribution CD) and select it before 
  68. printing.
